Karl Comendador was a prominent Filipino comic book artist, illustrator, and penciller/inker known for his vibrant depictions of adventure heroes, particularly Edgar Rice Burroughs characters like Tarzan and John Carter. 

Comendador worked with key publishers including Atlas Publishing House and Graphic Arts Services Inc., later serving as president of the Society of Philippine Illustrators & Cartoonists (SPIC). He contributed to Redondo Studio's The Cross and the Switchblade, ACP Comics, Black Ink Comics, and Glasshouse Asia, while freelancing on webcomics like The Girl from Hollywood and Forgotten Tales of Love and Murder.

His creations include the graphic novel Talahib (Grassman) and the 1989–1990 Ninja Komiks series Sentensyador!, alongside film-related art for Kamandag (2007), Gagambino (2008), and Isinusumpa Ko (1982).
